MathHell: Balance needs an online leaderboard to be fun, so it is not a zero-data app — but it collects the minimum a game like this needs, and nothing is ever sold.
Account. On first launch the game creates an anonymous account (a random technical identifier from Firebase Authentication). If you later sign in with Google or Apple, your account identifier and the display name provided by that service are linked to it. If you create an email account instead, we collect your email address; your password is handled entirely by Firebase Authentication and stored only in hashed form — we never see it. The email address is used solely for signing in and for service emails (address verification and password reset, sent from noreply@mathhell.com) — no marketing, ever. We do not request your contacts, photos, or location.
Leaderboard. When a run ends, the game submits your display name, score, level and question reached, answer statistics (correct / wrong / timeouts), run duration, a technical run identifier, and whether an ad-revive was used. Your display name and score are visible to other players on the public leaderboard.
Settings. Sound, vibration, sensitivity, language, and similar preferences are stored only on your device.
To find bugs and understand what to improve, the app uses:
These reports do not include your math answers or any content you type; the game has no free-text input besides your player name and the optional email sign-in form, and we never intentionally include either in analytics or crash reports (error reports may contain technical error messages produced by a sign-in provider).
The game shows two kinds of ads, both served by Google AdMob:
There are no banner ads. All ads are currently requested in non-personalized mode, meaning they are based on context rather than a profile of you. The ad SDK may still process device information (such as identifiers, IP address, and coarse diagnostics) for fraud prevention and frequency capping under Google's privacy policy. If personalized ads are ever introduced, the app will ask for the required consent first (App Tracking Transparency on iOS and GDPR consent where applicable).
Leaderboard and account data are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore). Crash reports go to Sentry (EU ingestion) and Firebase Crashlytics. These providers act as processors on our behalf and may store data on servers in the EU and the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA or the UK, these providers rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone beyond these service providers.
Security. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted by the providers' security rules and access controls. That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The game uses device motion (accelerometer and gyroscope) to control the beam — motion data is processed on the device in real time and never recorded or transmitted. It does not use location, camera, microphone, or contacts.
The app is not directed at children under 13, does not knowingly collect personal information from them, and serves only non-personalized ads. Signing in with Google or Apple requires an account with those services, which have their own age requirements; creating an email account is likewise intended for users 13 and older (or the higher minimum age your country's law sets for digital consent). If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
For players in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions: the data controller is the developer named in the Contact section below. We process account and leaderboard data because it is necessary to provide the game you asked for (performance of a contract); we process crash reports, analytics, and ad fraud-prevention data under our legitimate interest in keeping the game working, secure, and free; and where the law requires consent (for example, for personalized ads, if ever introduced), we will ask for it first.
Retention. Account and leaderboard data are kept until you delete your account. Crash reports and analytics events are retained by Firebase and Sentry for their standard limited periods (typically no more than a few months to two years, per their linked policies) and are not kept longer by us.
Your rights. You may request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or ask us to restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. The in-app deletion described above covers most of this instantly; for anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
United States. We do not sell personal information and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by U.S. state privacy laws (including the California CCPA/CPRA). Residents of states with privacy laws may exercise the same access and deletion rights described above.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the app, including loss of scores or leaderboard records. You use the app at your own risk.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages; in those jurisdictions the above applies to the maximum extent the law allows, and nothing in this Policy limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived. On Apple platforms your use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; on Google Play, by the Google Play Terms of Service.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if advertising or sign-in options change. The "Last updated" date above indicates when the latest changes took effect. Your continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
